Who We Are

32.IMG_1674International Aid Serving Kids (IASK) is a nonprofit 501 (c)(3) organization. Our mission is to improve the health and wellness of the individuals, families, and communities we serve. We accomplish this purpose through education, provision and development of local medical, dental, optometry, and pharmacy resources and services, and partnering with local community health care leaders. We respect one another and foster friendships that lift and strengthen all of us.

What We Do

54.IASK Dominican Republic June 2010 084Since our first humanitarian mission in 2005, Lift a Life has completed 31 humanitarian trips to Haiti and the Dominican Republic. Over these 31 trips we have provided health care to over 32,000 children and their caregivers. More than 500 people from around the world have volunteered to serve in our provisional clinics.

Through the experience of these trips, we have seen the need for dedicated clinics to be able to provide better and more efficient care.

Haiti and the Dominican Republic do not have enough clinics or hospitals to respond to the medical and dental needs of their residents, and especially the poor. Some of the clinics that exist do not even have the necessary equipment to provide basic care and clinics that are well equipped are too expensive for many. Clinics and hospitals will not admit a patient without paying the fee in advance, even in emergent situations. Many are turned away with no options for medical care. Providers on our medical and dental teams are currently limited to available locations, often using tents or a local church to conduct their medical examinations. This requires the use of portable and often substandard equipment, as well as a large amount of setup time that could be better used in serving patients.

In order to respond to the immediate need and maximize the number of children and families that our clinicians can help, we have built a health clinic and community center in the Dominican Republic. The demand has never been higher.

What YOU Can Do

Our current focus is on raising enough money to sustain the Community of Hope clinic in the Dominican Republic that will allow us to maximize the time and36.smiling boy efforts of local staff and provide higher quality care through permanent resources. As we open the clinic daily, the center will be able to provide medical, dental, optometry, and podiatry care to more than 2,000 children and their families a month. The Community Center will serve as an education center to teach basic dental hygiene, medical and dental assisting, feminine services, English, basic computer skills, sewing, and community health skills. Without donations, this clinic is just a dream. But with your help, this clinic becomes something real that will change countless lives. Every little bit helps. Please consider a donation today.

We need volunteers of all types for our trips: Doctors, Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, Nurses (RN/LPN), Medical Residents, Dentists, Medical/Dental Students, Hygienists, Dental Assistants, Pharmacists, Optometrists, Photographers, Videographers, and Interpreters (Haitian Creole & Spanish).  Come help us make a difference in a child’s life–a difference that is not possible without your help.
